What is the first thing that comes to mind when the term "Sneaker Head" comes up? Do you speak good about it? Or does it discust you? There is a lot of controversy in the Sneaker Industry about the type of people buying shoes and how you have to buy shoes.
When is the last time you walked into a store on the weekend, saw a new shoe you've never seen, tried it on and bought it? Times have changed. You pick a size for a raffle or RSVP even though you dont know how they fit. You buy 3 pairs of the same shoe while 2 people miss out. This raises the secondary market price, forcing people to overpay for shoes that were originally a quarter of the price. You are then deemed a sneakerhead.
The name has turned into a negative term; instead of thoughts of a highly respected collector, it's 'hypebeast' (wearing shoes as a trend and buying a shoes because it's hot). This has pushed a lot of people away from the term and giving themselves a different name, ex: sneaker collector/wearer.
So how do we fix this? Or does it even need fixing? Will things eventually die down and the trend will end? Or is this something that will never stop?
See what the big names have to say about the Sneaker Industry and how things have changed and what they would do to change it, with Complex's new feature:

Every year or so, for the past 4 years, I am given the responsibility of designing and installing the window displays for The Klein Group's showroom, at The World Trade Center in Dallas. I just finished this yesterday, and this is the first time I am fully satisfied with the outcome. That is not to say I have never been proud of any of my previous designs, especially the one I won an award for. I've just always felt a little limited with resources, or not confident in my craftsmanship or type choices. After this past year of design classes, I felt a little more prepared and confident in my ability and taste.

Now this is too dope. Kill Hubris recently got DODO Case to produce a very small, super exclusive run of these iPad 2/3/4 cases. The KH blog says these were produced for the Kill Hubris inner circle, which I apparently got kicked out of without notice. Turns out there is one left over, and rather than sell it, Kill Hubris is GIVING IT AWAY! (see below)
Here is how you get your hands on this amazing case:
- Follow Kill Hubris on Instagram (@killhubris); and
- Like at least one of the “Who Wants One?” contest announcement pics posted there daily, beginning today.
Check out the KH blog post for more details on this great product.

Last weekend I took a trip back home, San Marcos, TX, to see my little cousin graduate high school, which was awesome I am very proud of her. While down there, we went to Gruene, TX to eat and walk around the awesome little town. I ended up in an antique store took a shit load of pictures of some very dope vintage packaging. The typography and layout on most of these pictures is amazing, especially when considering the process to create it. No Macbooks back in the day. Enjoy the pics I took. A lot more after the jump...
